Meet the Company
Alexander Abineri
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Alexander has recently formed "Gobi Bear Productions" which is a Southend based Theatre & Film Production Company.
Gobi Bear's mission is to produce and make innovative Theatre and Film made in Southend for Southend and beyond.
Their inaugural production will be a Rock Musical adaptation of "A Christmas Carol" titled 'That's The Spirit Mr Scrooge' which is a World Premiere to be presented at The Fickle Pickle Club (adjacent to The Cricketers Southend) on the 19th, 22nd & 23rd December 2025.
Alexander started his career at The Palace Theatre Westcliff playing Ronnie Winslow in "The Winslow Boy" a Newpalm Production.
Since then he has appeared at The Palace many times and worked both onstage and backstage, plus appearing on TV on several occasions.
He played the lead in "Beached" a short film shown at the Southend Film Festival which was awarded 'Best Short Film'.
Alexander is the third generation of an Acting family his parents are both actors and his Grandfather John Abineri, married to actress Hilary Bamford, was nominated for an Emmy in the Best Actor category for his performance as Chingachkook in the BBC series "The Last of The Mohicans.
Alexander is really excited about forming this new company and is looking forward to working with the amazing, talented people in the new City of Southend.
